Case description:

Elíades was reportedly beaten to death while under arrest at a police station. Authorities claimed he had hanged himself in the early morning hours of May 4th but provided the family several differing accounts of how. Screams were heard coming from the police station hours before he was reported dead and his body had two swollen fingers, a bruise on the right lower abdomen, and bruises to the neck as if someone had tried to suffocate him with their hands. Elíades was a milk-producing farmer who had been arrested on April 28, 2021 and charged with "pre-criminal dangerousness," which contemplates imprisonment for persons considered to potentially commit future crimes. He was on a protest hunger strike since his arrest. His trial was scheduled for May 3rd, 2021 but was postponed for a day, apparently because it had been determined that the signatures sustaining the accusation against him had been falsified and the charges were to be dismissed. He left two children and three grandchildren.

Todo hace indicar que Eliades Elíades fue muerto a golpes mientras estaba detenido en una estación de policía. Las autoridades afirmaron que se había ahorcado en las primeras horas de la mañana del 4 de mayo, pero proporcionaron a la familia varios relatos diferentes sobre cómo ocurrió. Se escucharon gritos provenientes de la comisaría horas antes de que fuera reportado muerto y su cuerpo presentaba dos dedos hinchados, un hematoma en la parte inferior derecha del abdomen y hematomas en el cuello como si alguien hubiera intentado asfixiarlo con las manos. Elíades era un productor de leche que había sido detenido el 28 de abril de 2021 y acusado de "peligrosidad predelictiva", que contempla el encarcelamiento de personas que se considere potencialmente cometerán delitos en el futuro. Estuvo en huelga de hambre de protesta desde su arresto. Su juicio estaba programado para el 3 de mayo de 2021 pero se pospuso un día, aparentemente porque se determinó que las firmas que sustentaban la acusación en su contra habían sido falsificadas y los cargos debían ser desestimados. Dejó dos hijos y tres nietos.
