Case description:

Human rights activist and member of a peaceful opposition group who suffered a multiple brain infarction in 2018 that affected a large part of her body. She died at home after her health had gradually deteriorated and she developed advanced malnutrition even though her family was devoted to her care but was unable to properly feed her. For over a year, she had been denied medical attention, a special diet, and other assistance, as health authorities alleged that the required physical therapy could not be provided because her local clinic had no staff (as neurology specialists were on international missions and most of the staff was at facilities dedicated to patients with coronavirus).

Activista de derechos humanos y miembro del Movimiento Opositor por Una Nueva República (MONR) que en 2018 sufrió un infarto cerebral múltiple que afectó gran parte de su cuerpo. Su estado de salud se deterioró hasta que desarrolló una desnutrición avanzada. Su familia asegura que por más de un año no consiguió recibir atención médica. Jacqueline requiria terapias físicas, pero las autoridades de salud le dijeron a la familia que los especialistas del departamento de neurología de su policlínica local estaban en misiones internacionales y que la mayoría del personal estaba prestando servicios en centros dedicados a pacientes con coronavirus. Murió en su casa de Marianao, ciudad de La Habana el 10 de mayo, 2021.
