Case description:

The Cuban Armed Forces reportedly sent three B-26 airplanes to attack the village of Cayo Espino in pursuit of rebel forces that had attacked and destroyed a military detachment at el Pozón. The Gutierrez family took refuge in their home, but firepower from the planes severely injured 6 year-old Orestes in both legs. His sister Lucia and cousin Claribel Escalona Rodríguez were also injured. The three were treated in a field hospital of the Rebel Army, but Orestes died that night. His remains were eventually buried in the Manzanillo cemetery.

Las Fuerzas Armadas de Batista, en un encuentro con rebeldes que atacaron y destruyeron un destacamento militar en el Pozón, enviaron tres aviones B-26 para atacar el pueblo de Cayo Espino. La familia Gutiérrez se refugió en su casa, pero la potencia la metralla de los aviones hirió gravemente a Orestes de 6 años en ambas piernas. Su hermana Lucía y su prima Claribel Escalona Rodríguez también resultaron heridas. Los tres fueron atendidos en un hospital de campaña del Ejército Rebelde, pero Orestes murió esa noche. Sus restos fueron eventualmente enterrados en el cementerio de Manzanillo.
