Case description:

Died in custody after being wrongly accused of stealing a gold chain. According to his mother, Milagros Huete, a police agent had sprayed pepper spray into her son's eyes and mistreated him while in handcuffs and as he was placed inside a police car. Upon arriving at the police station, foam was emanating from his mouth. He was taken to the Cristóbal Labra polyclinic, where he was admitted with a cardiorespiratory arrest, in a cyanotic state and without vital signs. Cardiac massage and resuscitation were applied  for 30 minutes before he was pronounced dead by "asphyxia", according to the police report. Six months late, the Territorial Military Court of Havana acquitted the two police officers accused of the killing, arguing that "there were no excesses in their performance of duty." The young man who had actually stolen the gold chain was brought to trial and found guilty.

Murió en detención tras ser acusado injustamente de robar una cadena de oro. Según su madre, Milagros Huete, uno de los policías le roció los ojos con gas pimienta y trajo a su hijo a la patrulla boca abajo, metiendo su brazo izquierdo en los brazos esposados de Urgellés y moviendo su cabeza de un lado a otro. Al llegar a la comisaría, uno de los agentes notó que de la boca de Urgellés salía espuma. Lo llevaron al policlínico Cristóbal Labra, donde ingresó con un paro cardiorrespiratorio, en estado cianótico y sin signos vitales positivos. Se le aplicó masaje cardíaco y reanimación durante 30 minutos, pero finalmente fue declarado muerto por "asfixia", según el informe policial. Seis meses más tarde, el Tribunal Militar Territorial de La Habana absolvió a los dos policías acusados del homicidio, argumentando que "no hubo exceso en el desempeño del deber". El joven que realmente había robado la cadena de oro fue llevado a juicio y encontrado culpable.
