Case description:

Former member of the Armed Forces during the Batista period executed by firing squad. He had been informed to the authorities for burning a Communist flag in protest and was arrested at home in the middle of the night. In prison, he was held incommunicado and subjected to physical and psychological torture and threats against his family. He was executed two weeks later with several others, without a trial, on fabricated charges of counterrevolutionary activities. The family was able to recover the body two years later, in 1977. His brother and his family in Cuba were harassed by the government, which would cut their power and water services and regime supporters would throw rocks at their home. They eventually escaped to the USA.

Había formado parte de las Fuerzas Armadas durante el periodo de Batista. Fue denunciado ante las autoridades por quemar una bandera comunista en protesta. Fue detenido en su domicilio de madrugada y, en prisión, sometido a torturas físicas y psicológicas y amenazas contra su familia. Fue fusilado dos semanas más tarde junto con varias otras personas, sin juicio previo, acusados falsamente de actividades contrarrevolucionarias. Luego, su hermano en Cuba sufrió represalias: le tiraban piedras a su casa familiar y el gobierno le cortaba el agua y la luz. Logró escapar con su familiar a Estados Unidos.
