Case description:

Died five days after being shot in the head by a neighbor/friend who was a policeman with whom he was alone in a room at Ernesto's house. He had been kept alive artificially, with encephalic death, at a local hospital. The victimizer was arrested but authorities made no statements about what happened and the cause was unknown. Some persons close to the case said it had been an accident, while others posted on social media that the policeman, known as “Chucho, El tirado”, had recently joined the National Revolutionary Police despite having mental problems and should not have carried a weapon. A neighbor reported that in El Naranjal there was “a factory of policemen who are almost all crazy or illiterate, so they could take over their minds.”

Estuvo en la sala de terapia intensiva del Hospital General Docente Provincial Carlos Manuel de Céspedes de Bayamo. Estuvo cinco días en la sala de terapia intensiva conectado a aparatos y con muerte encefálica luego recibir un disparo en la cabeza de parte de un policía vecino y amigo suyo estando solos en una habitación de la casa de Ernesto.  El victimario fue detenido sin que las autoridades se pronunciaran sobre lo ocurrido. Allegados al caso aseguraron que se trató de un accidente, pero otros denunciaron en los medios sociales que el policía, conocido como “Chucho, el tirado”, había recién ingresado a la Policía Nacional Revolucionaria a pesar de tener problemas mentales y no estar en condiciones de portar un arma. Un vecino reportó que en El Naranjal había "una fábrica de policías que casi todos son locos o analfabetos para ellos poder utilizarle la mente.”
