Case description:

On February 28, in Detachment 10—an area designated for elderly inmates—prisoner Mariano Ocaña Nápoles, 66, a native of Santiago de Cuba, passed away.

He had been diagnosed with severe malnutrition and was suffering from a critical deterioration of health, exhibiting difficulty walking, constant dizziness, and a need for assistance to be transported to the prison's medical station.
The complaint alleges that the inmate responsible for maintaining disciplinary control within the detachment—identified as Geisy Betancourt Cintra—repeatedly refused to provide aid or to arrange for Ocaña Nápoles' transport via wheelchair to the medical station, despite the latter's repeated requests for care.
In this critical condition, Ocaña Nápoles failed to receive the necessary medical attention and was found dead on the morning of February 28.

El 28 de febrero, en el destacamento 10 —área destinada a personas adultas mayores— falleció el preso Mariano Ocaña Nápoles, de 66 años, natural de Santiago de Cuba.
Estaba diagnosticado con desnutrición severa y presentaba un deterioro crítico de salud: dificultades para caminar, mareos constantes y necesidad de asistencia para ser trasladado al puesto médico del penal.
La denuncia indica que el interno que ejerce funciones de control disciplinario en el destacamento, identificado como Geisy Betancourt Cintra, se habría negado en reiteradas ocasiones a brindarle auxilio o a gestionar su traslado en silla de ruedas hacia el puesto médico, a pesar de sus reiteradas solicitudes de atención.
En ese estado crítico, Ocaña Nápoles no recibió la atención médica necesaria y amaneció sin vida el 28 de febrero.
