Case description:

Accused of embezzlement, he had spent 25 days under arrest at a military counterintelligence prison facility (Órgano de Instrucción Judicial y Criminalística de la Contra Inteligencia Militar), before being transferred on December 27, 2011 to the Valle Grande Prison, where he died 48 hours later. His family believes that a failure to give him the required medication for his ischemic cardiopathy provoked his death and that, further, his condition required that he be held at a hospital rather than in a prison cell. His brother, a Captain of the Armed Forces and veteran of the war in Angola, insisted that Osmany had committed no crimes and that an inventory of the military warehouse where he worked confirmed that the 100 tubes he was accused of stealing were not missing.
