Case description:

Killed by a State Security agent at a beach in Matanzas who fired on a group of five who had attempted to leave Cuba on a homemade raft. The men were climbing on the raft when border guards surprised them. The guards were confiscating the contents of the raft when the chief of counterintelligence for the Martí municipality of Matanzas province, Miguel Ángel Rioseco, arrived and began shooting at the men. Yurinieski was shot in the back at short range, his body left for days unattended. Rioseco reportedly took several people to inspect the scene and removed evidence, including a photo of Yunieski´s son, to hinder identification of the body.
He was seeking to leave Cuba for the first time due to the difficulties in his work as a farmer. He could not find parts for his truck. He left a three year old son.
Around eight weeks later, a Matanzas military tribunal sentenced agent Rioseco to 13 years in prison for involuntary homicide (for Yurinieski's death). The family was disappointed that he had not been charged with murder, which carries a longer sentence.

Asesinado por un agente de la Seguridad del Estado en una playa de Matanzas que disparó contra un grupo de cinco personas que intentaban salir de Cuba en una balsa casera. Los hombres estaban subiendo a la balsa cuando los guardias fronterizos los sorprendieron. Los guardias estaban confiscando el contenido de la balsa cuando llegó el jefe de contrainteligencia del municipio Martí de la provincia de Matanzas, Miguel Ángel Rioseco, y comenzó a disparar contra los hombres. Yurinieski recibió un disparo en la espalda a corta distancia, su cuerpo quedó abandonado durante días. Según los informes, Rioseco llevó a varias personas a inspeccionar el lugar y se llevó pruebas, incluida una foto del hijo de Yunieski, para dificultar la identificación del cuerpo.
Buscaba salir de Cuba por primera vez debido a las dificultades en su trabajo como agricultor. No pudo encontrar piezas para su camioneta. Dejó un hijo de tres años.
