Case description:

Palma had two artificial heart valves and was serving a 6-year sentence for drug trafficking. At around 10:30PM on 12/12/11, he began having very severe chest pain and was taken unconscious to the prison clinic. When he recovered, he was sent back to his cell without medical treatment. At around 3:45AM, fellow inmates believed he was having a heart attack and requested medical assistance for him. Their pleas were ignored for an hour. When prison guards finally responded, he was was dead.

Palma tenía dos válvulas cardíacas artificiales y estaba cumpliendo una condena de 6 años por tráfico de drogas. Alrededor de las 10:30 pm del 12/12/11, comenzó a tener un dolor de pecho muy severo y fue llevado inconsciente a la clínica de la prisión. Cuando se recuperó, lo enviaron de regreso a su celda sin tratamiento médico. Alrededor de las 3:45 a.m., otros presos creyeron que estaba sufriendo un ataque cardíaco y solicitaron asistencia médica para él. Sus súplicas fueron ignoradas durante una hora. Cuando los guardias de la prisión finalmente respondieron, ya estaba muerto.
