Case description:

Common prisoner with severe mental illness under pharmacological treatment who died after swallowing a long piece of wire following numerous acts of self-agression. He was kept in a regular prison in violation of United Nations rules for the treatment of prisoners suffering from mental illness that call, among other things, for special monitoring by psychiatric professionals.  His body was full of scars and he known as "Patas de buey" (ox legs) due to his swollen legs resulting from his frequent injections of toxic substances. He was three months away from completing his eighteen-year sentence for a common offense.

Prisionero común con enfermedad mental grave bajo tratamiento farmacológico que murió después de tragar un trozo largo de alambre, luego de numerosos actos de auto agresión. Lo mantuvieron en una prisión regular en violación de las normas de las Naciones Unidas para el tratamiento de los presos que padecen enfermedades mentales que exigen, entre otras cosas, un seguimiento especial por parte de los profesionales psiquiátricos. Su cuerpo estaba lleno de cicatrices y era conocido como "Patas de buey" (piernas de buey) debido a sus piernas hinchadas como resultado de sus frecuentes inyecciones de sustancias tóxicas. Estaba a tres meses de completar su sentencia de dieciocho años por un delito común.
