Case description:

Bolivian Army intelligence officer serving as Bolivian General Consul in Hamburg (since 1970) killed in revenge of Che Guevara's execution in Bolivia in Oct. 1967. Quintanilla had ordered for Guevara's hands to be cut off and sent to La Paz for identification. The German-born Monika Ertl, a member of the armed Communist underground movement in Bolivia, posed as an Australian tourist seeking a visa to Bolivia and had requested an interview with the Consul. As they sat talking, Monika pulled out a Colt Cobra Special  38 caliber revolver from her purse and shot him three times. Especial  Monika had been in France and Cuba and used an Argentine passport. Cuban intelligence services are said to have planned the systematic assassination of those involved in Che Guevara´s capture and execution. Monika was killed May12, 1973 in La Paz, Bolivia, officially explained as in a shootout with Bolivian police but her father said she had been tortured. She had also reportedly been romantically involved with Guido Álvaro Peredo Leigue, "Inti Peredo", leader of the Cuba-sponsored guerrrilla movement in Bolivia, killed in a September 9, 1969 shootout with Bolivian security when Quintanilla was head of intelligence services for the Interior Minister.

Oficial de inteligencia del ejército boliviano sirviendo como cónsul boliviano en Hamburgo asesinado en venganza por la ejecución del Che Guevara en Bolivia 1967. Quintanilla era un objetivo principal porque había ordenado que le cortaran las manos a Guevara y las enviaran a La Paz para su identificación. Monika Ertl, supuestamente nacida en Alemania y miembro del movimiento Comunista clandestino armado en Bolivia. Monika se hizo pasar por una australiana interesada en una visa para Bolivia y pidió una entrevista con el Consul. Sentada frente a él le descargó tres tiros con un un revólver Colt Cobra calibre 38 Especial que sacó de su bolso. Se dice que los servicios de inteligencia cubanos planearon el asesinato sistemático de los involucrados en la captura y ejecución del Che Guevara. Monika murió el 12 de mayo de 1973 en La Paz, Bolivia, en lo que se reportó oficialmente como un combate (tiroteo) con la policía bolivana, pero su padre dijo que fue torturada. Se reporta que Monika también había estado en una relación romántica con Guido Álvaro Peredo Leigue, "Inti Peredo", líder de la guerrilla revolucionaria en Bolivia auspiciada por Cuba, quien fue muerto en un combate con fuerzas de seguridad bolivianas el 9 de septiembre de1969 siendo Quintanilla jefe de Inteligencia del Ministro del Interior, Antonio Arguedas.
