Case description:

Arrested at his farm in San José de las Lajas for possession of two sacks of marijuana, he was charged with drug trafficking and judged by a military court of justice in the 5th Military District, which sentenced him to death by firing squad. The Geneva-based International Commission of Jurists claimed that the military court had no legal jurisdiction and that the execution amounted to judicial assassination. The Chief Judge, Lieutenant Eustaquio R. del Castillo, stated that the Revolution was so great and important that it had legal jurisdiction over everything.

Detenido en su finca en San José de las Lajas por posesión de dos sacos de marihuana, fue acusado de tráfico de drogas y juzgado por un tribunal militar de justicia en el Distrito Militar V, que lo condenó a muerte por un pelotón de fusilamiento. La Comisión Internacional de Juristas, con sede en Ginebra, afirmó que el tribunal militar no tenía jurisdicción legal y que la ejecución equivalía a un asesinato judicial.
