Case description:

He had been punished with confinement to cell 26 of the "Special Regime" of Boniatico Prison with no safeguards for his life despite suffering from acute psychological disorders (authorized by a military psychologist). Seeking to escape the physical and psychological torture, he set fire to his mattress and embraced it, suffering severe burns, especially on his back. He was beaten by prison guards and transferred to the burn ward of the hospital, where he soon died. According to fellow political prisoners, Reguilfero Díaz had endured much prior punishment and isolation.

Preso que castigado con reclusión en la celda 26 del "Régimen Especial" de la prisión de Boniatico sin garantías para su vida a pesar de sufrir trastornos psicológicos agudos (autorizado por un psicólogo militar). Buscando escapar de la tortura física y psicológica, prendió fuego a su colchón y lo abrazó, sufriendo graves quemaduras, especialmente en la espalda. Fue golpeado por guardias de la prisión y trasladado a la sala de quemaduras del hospital, donde pronto murió.
