Some sources report that the anti-Castro guerrilla drowned while crossing a river trying to break an encirclement ("cerco") from Castro's troops near Trinidad, Las Villas. Beruvides, 1993, p. 161, has him executed by firing squad in Trinidad on March 8, 1963.  Cuban American National Foundation, Quilt of Fidel Castro's Genocide, 1994, has him executed by firing squad in Trinidad, province of Las Villas, as well as killed in combat in the province of Las Villas.  Both Nuestra Cuba, 1998, and WAQI-Radio Mambí, p. 51, have him executed by firing squad in Trinidad, province of Las Villas on August 3, 1963.  Cuban American National Foundation, Quilt of Fidel Castro's Genocide, 1994, also has him dying at sea during an illegal exit attempt. Nuestra Cuba, 1998, p. 46, has him dying in the province of Camagüey June 18, 1963.  Circuito Sur, July 2002, p. 65, has him killed in combat in the province of Las Villas in August 1963. Un día como hoy, Comité Internacional de ex-Presos Políticos Cubanos, e-mail of August 3, 2022. reports him executed in Condado, Trinidad, Las Villas province on August 3, 1963.
