Case description:

The eldest son of late Cuban revolutionary leader Fidel Castro and nuclear physicist who had studied in the former Soviet Union reported by Cuban state-run media to have committed suicide after being treated for months for depression. Media sources claimed a neighbor had said he had thrown himself from the 4th floor of a Havana clinic only used by members of the high Cuban nomenklatura whose 4th floor is said to be heavily guarded.  No official information was provided on the death and Fidelito's immediate family members have not spoken publicly. At the time of his death, he was working as a scientific counselor to the Cuban Council of State and Vice-President of the Cuban Academy of Sciences under his uncle, President Raul Castro. Since Fidel Castro´s death, there were rumors that his children were being sidelined by Raúl Castro´s children. "Fidelito" had been head of Cuba's national nuclear program from 1980 to 1992 and had spearheaded the development of a Soviet-financed plant until his father fired him for "inefficiencies in carrying out functions."

Los medios de comunicación oficiales de Cuba informaron que el físico nuclear e hijo mayor del difunto líder Fidel Castro se había suicidado y que recibía tratamiento para una depresión. Se afirmó
que se había arrojado desde el cuarto piso de una clínica de La Habana que sirve para uso exclusivo de la alta nomenclatura cubana y está fuertemente custodiada. No se proporcionó información oficial alguna y sus familiares inmediatos no han hablado públicamente. Tras la muerte de su padre Fidel un
poco más de un año antes, se rumoraba que sus hijos estaban siendo marginados en favor de los hijos de Raúl Castro.
