Case description:

Member of the Western United Front Movement. After being imprisoned for a year, he and more than ninety others were put on trial in Consolación del Norte, La Palma, and accused of conspiring against the powers of the state. His parents hired a defense lawyer (Orlando de la Portilla), but the prosecutor (Alberto Amador) would not allow his defense. No testimonies were presented; only the prosecutor spoke. After three days of trial, Vicente and three of his companions were sentenced to death as an example to the people of Consolación del Norte. When they were taken from their cells to line up along the wall for execution, the four men yelled "Viva Cuba libre!" After his death, the government confiscated his work truck. He left a wife, Ofelia Valdéz, twenty-six years old, and one child, Odalys, one year of age.
