Case description:

Common prisoner serving a 98 year sentence for homicide shot to death by a prison guard for entering the first level of the security perimeter of the prison, where firearms are not to be used. Two shots hit the victim in the head and the chest. Prison regulations in Cuba call for a warning shot to the air in the first security perimeter, two warning shots in the second perimeter and shots to the legs after reaching the third perimeter.  The victim was buried near his home, in Pinar del Río, 9/18/08.

Preso común que cumplía una condena de 98 años asesinado por un guardia de la prisión por ingresar al primer nivel del perímetro de seguridad de la prisión, donde no se permiten usar armas de fuego. Dos disparos alcanzaron a la víctima en la cabeza y el pecho. Las normas penitenciarias en Cuba exigen un disparo de advertencia al aire en el primer perímetro de seguridad, dos disparos de advertencia en el segundo perímetro y disparos a las piernas después de llegar al tercer perímetro. La víctima fue enterrada cerca de su casa, en Pinar del Río, 18/09/08.
