Circuito Sur, July 2002, pp. 52 and 53; Nuestra Cuba, 1998, p. 53; and Gómez Estrada, 1980, p. 73, report him killed in combat in the province of Camagüey on July 7, 1965.  Cuban American National Foundation, Quilt of Fidel Castro's Genocide, 1994, reports the victim as Juan Alberto Martínez, alias Bertín, an anti-Castro insurgent and Escambray guerrilla rebel living in Sancti Spíritus, province of Las Villas (now Sancti Spíritus), killed in combat in Las Villas in 1964.  Beruvides, 1993, p. 142; and Cuban American National Foundation, Quilt of Fidel Castro's Genocide, 1994, report the victim as Juan Alberto Martínez, an anti-Castro guerrilla band leader living in Jatibonico, province of Camagüey, killed in combat against Castro's FAR in the area near Jatibonico on June 10, 1965.
