Case description:

Political prisoner since May 1961 (sentenced to 12 years of prison) who was attacked arbitrarily with a bayonet by prison guard Private First Class Arcia when he refused to undertake forced labor due to his weak state (he was malnourished, weak and ill). He laid on the floor in a pool of blood for four hours without receiving medical attention and died from the loss of blood.
At the time, (1964-1967) several thousand political prisoners held at Isla de Pinos were subjected to a rehabilitation regime of extreme repression, forced hard labor (working from dawn to night), and malnutrition called "special plan Camilo Cienfuegos". Beatings and severe punishments were common and several prisoners were killed by prison guards. Until then, during the history of the Cuban republic, political prisoners had never been forced to work.

Murió por pérdida de sangre después de un ataque arbitrario de bayoneta por un guardia de la prisión de Isla de Pinos. Estuvo en el suelo en un charco de sangre durante cuatro horas sin recibir atención médica. En los primeros años de la Revolución, miles de presos políticos fueron sometidos a un régimen de rehabilitación consistente en una represión extrema, trabajo forzado y malnutrición llamado "plan especial Camilo Cienfuegos". Los golpes y los castigos severos eran comunes y varios prisioneros fueron asesinados por guardias de la prisión. Hasta esa fecha, durante la historia de la república cubana, los presos políticos nunca habían sido forzados a trabajar.
