Circuito Sur, July 2002, p. 18; and Nuestra Cuba, 1998, p. 16, erroneously report him dying in Boniato Prison in March 1963.  Instituto de la memoria histórica, www.cubamemorial.net/listado, reports the victim as José R. Castillo del Pozo, a prisoner at Boniato Prison in the province of Oriente, dead of a hunger strike on March 27, 1973. Beruvides, 1993, p. 101; Beruvides, 2011, Tomo I, p.93; and Cuban American National Foundation, Quilt of Fidel Castro's Genocide, 1994, reports a José Ramón Castillo Caballero, age 34, collaborated with anti-Castro guerrillas in Matanzas province, arrested while transporting supplies to guerrillas and executed in Matanzas on Feb. 8, 1963. United States Information Agency, 1993, Year 1964, reports a José Ramón Castillo Caballero executed in 1964.
