Instituto de la memoria histórica, www.cubamemorial.net/listado, reports him as José A. Hernández Masó, dead as the result of lack of medical attention in Pinar del Río jail on November 5, 1975.  United States Information Agency, 1993, Year 1976; Circuito Sur, July 2002, p. 43; Beruvides 1993, p. 129; Beruvides, 1994, p. 167; and WAQI-Radio Mambí, p. 70, all report a José Hernández executed in Santiago de Cuba on September 4, 1976. Some report he was a bus driver charged with working for the C.I.A. Circuito Sur, July 2002, p. 43; and Beruvides 1993, p. 129, report a José Hernández dying in Boniato Prison in September 1976.
