Case description:

On January 23, 2007, according to a fellow prisoner, he received two savage beatings from prison guards, one in the hallway and one in his cell, because he did not want to go to Destacamento 8, another part of the prison, because he had problems with other prisoners there. The guards left him lying on the floor, naked, with no belongings, and with no medical assistance. He was found dead in his cell two days later. The authorities told his family that he had hanged himself with a sheet, but the family believes he died as a result of the beatings he received in prison.  He was serving a four-year sentence on charges of assault.

El 23 de enero de 2007, según un compañero de prisión, recibió dos salvajes palizas de los guardias de la prisión, una en el pasillo y otra en su celda, porque no quería ir al Destacamento 8, otra parte de la prisión, porque había tenido problemas con otros prisioneros allí. Los guardias lo dejaron tirado en el suelo, desnudo, sin pertenencias y sin asistencia médica. Fue encontrado muerto en su celda dos días después. Las autoridades le dijeron a su familia que se había ahorcado con una sábana, pero la familia cree que murió como consecuencia de las palizas que recibió en prisión. Estaba cumpliendo una sentencia de cuatro años por cargos de agresión.
