Case description:

Bolivian politician who was President (1964 to 1969) during the capture and execution of Che Guevara in Bolivia while he was leading a small insurgency there. Barrientos perished in an unexplained helicopter crash. Rumors persist that the helicopter may have been sabotaged or shot down. Allegedly, an investigation concluded it had been an accident, but an official report was never disclosed. All major participants of the capture and execution of Che Guevara were later killed, most in revenge by purported revolutionary groups reportedly supported and organized by Cuban intelligence.

Político boliviano que fue presidente (1964 a 1969) durante la captura y ejecución del Che Guevara en Bolivia mientras lideraba una pequeña insurgencia allí. Barrientos falleció en un inexplicable accidente de helicóptero. Persisten los rumores de que el helicóptero pudo haber sido saboteado o derribado. Al parecer, una investigación concluyó que había sido un accidente, pero nunca se reveló un informe oficial. Todos los principales participantes de la captura y ejecución del Che Guevara fueron posteriormente asesinados, la mayoría en venganza por supuestos grupos revolucionarios que, según informes, fueron apoyados y organizaos por la inteligencia cubana.
