Case description:

Young revolutionary that was killed on Cuba's Central Highway north of San José de las Lajas, when the car where she was travelling was intercepted by soldiers. After looking inside the car, they were allowed to proceed. As soon as the car moved way, there was a shot fired through the rear window that hit Aleida. She died a while later. The soldier said he had fired the shot by accident.

Activa revolucionaria que realizaba un viaje hacia la capital en unión de unos tíos. En la carretera central, por las canteras de Somorrostro, al norte de San José de las Lajas, fueron interceptados y detenidos por miembros de la Guardia Rural, quienes se limitaron a mirar hacia el interior del auto, dándoles instrucciones de proseguir. Apenas arrancado el auto sintieron un disparo, y Aleida cayó con una herida mortal; el proyectil penetró a través del cristal trasero. El soldado autor del disparo declaró que se le había escapado el tiro por accidente.
