Case description:

Small farmer and Escambray rebel killed in combat in an area behind the Boquerón caves of Las Villas. He was part of the guerrilla band led by Mario Bravo Cervantes. Their group of around 14 to 16 rebels was encircled by Castro's militias Jun. 22-24, 1964 by around four thousand troops led by Lizardo Proenza. Mario, his brother Gregorio, and several other were killed in combat, others were captured injured and then executed. Raúl Alvarez Morales, escaped but was later captured and executed with his brother Julio (also captured in the battle).

Campesino y rebelde del Escambray muerto en combate en un sector detrás de las cuevas del Boquerón de Las Villas. Formó parte de la guerrilla dirigida por Mario Bravo Cervantes. Su grupo de alrededor de 14 a 16 rebeldes fue rodeado por las milicias de Castro del 22 al 24 de junio de 1964 por aproximadamente cuatro mil tropas dirigidas por Lizardo Proenza. Mario, su hermano Gregorio y varios más murieron en combate, otros fueron capturados heridos y luego ejecutados. Raúl Alvarez Morales, escapó pero luego fue capturado y ejecutado con su hermano Julio (también capturado en esa batalla).
