Case description:

Small farmer, father of five, who raised cattle. He rose against the Castro regime in 1961, leading a band of approximately thirty men in the province of Matanzas, His two sons, Pedrito and Lalo, were killed in combat in April 1963 three days apart from each other and their group had dispersed, greatly outnumbered by government forces. Family members smuggled him to Havana province, seeking to have him escape the country. He was hiding at a home in Güira de Melena, but a neighbor alerted authorities. As the house was surrounded, he fled in a car  driven by  a sympathizer, but told the driver to let him near a field to avoid bringing him harm. As they caught up with him, he pulled a knife to defend himself and was killed by a militiaman. The remaining members of the band were captured and executed, only one survived. The person who gave him shelter served ten years in prison.

Pequeño agricultor y ganadero, padre de cinco hijos. Se alzó contra el régimen de Castro en 1961, liderando una banda de aproximadamente treinta hombres en la provincia de Matanzas. Sus dos hijos, Pedrito y Lalo, murieron en combate en abril de 1963, con tres días de diferencia y su grupo se había dispersado cuando se vieron superados en número por las fuerzas gubernamentales. Miembros de la familia lo lograron pasar a la provincia de La Habana, buscando que escapara del país. Estaba escondido en una casa en Güira de Melena, pero un vecino alertó a las autoridades. Cuando la casa fue rodeada, huyó en un automóvil conducido por un simpatizante, pero le dijo al conductor que lo dejara cerca de un campo para evitar comprometerlo. Cuando lo rodearon los milicianosw, sacó un cuchillo para defenderse y fue asesinado por un miliciano. Los miembros restantes del grupo guerrillero fueron capturados y ejecutados, solo uno sobrevivió. La persona que le dio refugio cumplió diez años de prisión.
