Case description:

A topography specialist, disappeared at sea in a small motorboat (belonging to a state maritime enterprise) with a colleague and a friend after taking a small boat from their workplace at the port of Palo Alto in an exit attempt from Cuba. Authorities confirmed they had taken a vessel out to sea and a search was conducted, but that they had been caught in a storm (there was good weather that day), and declared them officially disappeared. After five years of desperately searching for them, a distant relative of one of the three who was a member of Cuba's Border Guard sent them word to stop looking because they had been gunned down and killed by to prevent the escape. Miguel left behind a wife and children, ages 1 and 12.

Especialista en topografía y su colega Daniel Cosme Ramos desaparecieron junto a un amigo, Federico Martí Jiménez, en un intento de salida de Cuba.  Habían robado una pequeña lancha perteneciente a la empresa marítima estatal para la cual trabajaban en el puerto de Palo Alto, provincia de Ciego de Ávila, Cuba. Después de cinco años de búsqueda desesperada por parte de los familiares, un pariente lejano de uno de ellos que era miembro de la Guardia Costera de Cuba envió un mensaje para que dejaran de buscarlos, porque habían sido asesinados, abatidos a tiros, para evitar su fuga. Dejó a una esposa y dos hijos de 1 y 12 años.
