Case description:

Leader of a large anti-Castro guerrilla army operating in the province of Pinar del Río. He was taken prisoner after suffering wounds to his legs, arms, and thorax during a ferocious battle in Loma de los Coches, Pinar del Río, on December 7, 1960.  His legs were infected and full of worms. His blood was forcibly extracted and he was brought for his execution on a stretcher because he was unable to stand, even after tying him to a post. He had to be shot while lying on the ground. Rebel Army Lieutenant Luis Enrique Telleria led the firing squad platoon.

Líder de un nutrido grupo guerrillero anticastrista que operaba en la provincia de Pinar del Río. Fue hecho prisionero luego de sufrir heridas en las piernas, brazos y tórax durante una feroz batalla en Loma de los Coches en la provincia de Pinar del Río el 7 de diciembre de 1960. Sus piernas estaban infectadas y llenas de gusanos. Fue llevado al área de ejecución en camilla,  debido a que no podía pararse, incluso después de atarlo a un poste, tuvo que recibir un disparo mientras estaba tendido en el suelo. El Teniente del Ejército Rebelde Luis Enrique Telleria dirigió el pelotón de fusilamiento.

Encinosa, 1989, pp. 77 and 153, has him executed in the province of Pinar del Río in January or February 1961.  Beruvides, 1993, p. 145, has him killed in combat in the province of Pinar del Río.  WAQI-Radio Mambí, p. 11, has him executed by firing squad at Loma de los Coches, province of Pinar del Río.  Nuestra Cuba, 1999, p. 10, has him executed by firing squad in the province of Pinar del Río on January 23, 1961.  Instituto de la Memoria Histórica Cubana contra el Totalitarismo, 2002, p. 6, has him executed by firing squad on January 23, 1961.
