Case description:

Angel went by his second name, Moisés. He was a farmer from a humble family and anti-Castro resistance leader in the province of Matanzas. Betrayed by a person close to him, who informed authorities of his activities, he was taken from to his home, where he lived with his parents, in the middle of the night by men wearing masks who placed a hood on his head. The following day, the family learned that he had been executed that same night with three friends from the resistance at the Agramonte cemetery, as published in the state-controlled press. Prior to their execution, their blood had been forcefully extracted. The family tried unsuccessfully to obtain a death certificate. The bodies were buried in a common grave.

Conocido por su segundo nombre, Moisés, provenía de una familia humilde y trabajaba en la agricultura. Líder de la resistencia de la provincia de Matanzas, fue traicionado por una persona cercana a él. Los agentes del gobierno que estaban encapuchados lo sacaron de su casa, donde vivía con sus padres, en medio de la noche y le pusieron una capucha en la cabeza. La familia se enteró al día siguiente de que había sido ejecutado esa misma noche con tres amigos de la resistencia (dos eran hermanos), sin juicio, en el cementerio de Agramonte (según lo publicado en la prensa oficial). Se informó que antes de su ejecución, su sangre había sido extraída con fuerza. Los cuerpos fueron enterrados en una fosa común en el mismo cementerio en que fueron fusilados. La familia intentó sin éxito obtener un certificado de defunción.

Beruvides, 1993, p. 173; Cuban American National Foundation, Quilt of Fidel Castro's Genocide, 1994; WAQI-Radio Mambí, p. 17; and Circuito Sur, July 2002, p. 78, all report a Moisés Ruíz Oliver or Moisés Ruíz executed February 14, 1961 in Agramonte.
