Case description:

Murdered by Colombian coyotes with a fellow traveler while traveling through the Colombian jungle attempting to reach the U.S. crossing Central America by land. They had charged the group of three Cubans US$1,500 to guide them to the Panamanian border, but upon reaching a swamp (Ciénaga de Matuntugo), demanded more money, which they group didn't have. They then raped the woman, stabbed her, and sliced her neck. They stabbed the men, killing him, but one man survived the attack injured and provided testimony that led to the arrest of the perpetrators.The two victims´bodies were recovered by authorities in the jungle. Johan Estiven Carreazo Asprilla, alias "Playboy", age 20, and Carlos Emilio Ibargüen Palacio, alias "Carlos", age 26, were arrested by Colombian authorities for the crime. In November 2017, Ibargüen was extradited to the U.S. to face charges of trafficking in persons.

Asesinado por coyotes colombianos junto a una compañera mientras viajaban por la jungla colombiana intentando llegar a Estados Unidos cruzando Centroamérica por tierra. Le habían cobrado al grupo de tres cubanos US $ 1.500 por guiarlos hasta la frontera panameña, pero al llegar a un pantano (Ciénaga de Matuntugo), exigieron más dinero, que el grupo no tenía. Luego violaron a la mujer, la apuñalaron y le cortaron el cuello. Apuñalaron a los hombres y lo mataron, pero uno sobrevivió al ataque herido y brindó testimonio que condujo a la detención de los perpetradores. Los cuerpos de las dos víctimas fueron recuperados por las autoridades en la selva. Johan Estiven Carreazo Asprilla, alias "Playboy", 20 años, y Carlos Emilio Ibargüen Palacio, alias "Carlos", 26 años, fueron detenidos por las autoridades colombianas por el crimen. En noviembre de 2017, Ibargüen fue extraditado a Estados Unidos para enfrentar cargos de trata de personas.
