Case description:

Was socializing with a group of friends, all unarmed, at the Perla Hotel of Sancti Spíritus, most of them waiting to start work. Without provocation, militiaman Pedro Hernández opened fire on the group with his machine gun, killing four and injuring six more.  Most of the youngsters were members of the Catholic Group Knights of Columbus. The government did not allow the burials to be held at the same time and had the cemetery surrounded by military forces for each one.

Estaba socializando con un grupo de amigos, todos desarmados, en el Hotel Perla de Sancti Spíritus, la mayoría esperando para empezar a trabajar. Sin provocación, el miliciano Pedro Hernández, conocido como 'Lechuza', abrió fuego contra el grupo con su ametralladora, matando a cuatro e hiriendo a seis más. La mayoría de los jóvenes eran miembros del Grupo Católico Caballeros de Colón. El gobierno no permitió que los entierros se realizaran al mismo tiempo y tuvo el cementerio rodeado de fuerzas militares para cada uno.
