Case description:

Member of the Central Intelligence Agency (C.I.A.)-sponsored infiltration team Operation 'Red Cross,' that sought to smuggle Soviet officers out of Cuba. The entire 10-man team perished when their boat, 'The Flying Tiger II,' was gunned down and sunk accidentally in heavy seas by U.S. Navy boats that took them for Castro regime infiltrators. The C.I.A. agent in charge of the operation, William D. Pawley, who led the operation, committed suicide 14 years later.
