Case description:

Executed by firing squad after landing in Cuba on May 13, 1969 as part of an expedition group of 10-men belonging to the anti-Castro group RECE (Representation of Cuban Exiles) commanded by Amancio Mosqueda and Roberto Herrera trying to free his wife, political prisoner Ofelia Rodríguez. They arrived at Macambo beach, near the U.S. Guantánamo Naval Base and were detected by government forces. Three died in the combat (Roberto Herrera, Bienvenido Fuentes and Justo Leyva Columbié), three others, in addition to Francisco, were executed (Angel Luis Castillo, Manuel Rodríguez Pineda and Amancio Mosqueda) the rest sentenced to prison for 30 years, (Tito Pardo, Carlos Ibarra and Sixto Mosqueda).  He left behind his wife and a young son. His father, Eladio Cid, died of a heart attack while he was being interrogated by State Security in 1967, and his brother, Eladio Cid, was killed by Batista's police in 1956 when they stormed the Haitian embassy in Havana.

Fue ejecutado por un pelotón de fusilamiento luego de infiltrarse en Cuba desde el extranjero el 13 de mayo de 1969 como parte de una expedición de 10 hombres del grupo anticastrista RECE (Representación Cubana del Exilio), liderados por él y Amancio Mosqueda para liberar a la esposa de Cid, la presa política Ofelia Rodríguez. Llegaron a la playa de Macambo, cerca de la Base Naval de Estados Unidos en Guantánamo, pero fueron detectados por las fuerzas del gobierno. Tres expedicionarios murieron en el combate (Roberto Herrera, Bienvenido Fuentes  y Justo Leyva Columbié), otros tres, además de Francisco, fueron condenados a muerte y ejecutados (Angel Luis Castillo, Manuel Rodríguez Pineda y Amancio Mosqueda), el resto fue condenado a 30 años de prisión, (Tito Pardo, Carlos Ibarra y Sixto Mosqueda).
Dejó una esposa y un hijo pequeño. Su padre, Eladio Cid, murió de un ataque al corazón durante una interrogatorio por la Seguridad del Estado en 1967, y su hermano, Eladio Cid, fue muerto por la policía de Batista en 1956 cuando atacaron la embajada de Haití en La Habana.
