Case description:

She and nine others fled Cuba in a 14ft. boat April 25, 2002 from Cabañas Harbor, Pinar del Río province. They sought asylum in the U.S. Four days later (April 29th), her body was found floating near Key Largo, Florida.  Her brother and husband were also part of the group. Two other very decomposed bodies were found nearby, ten miles off Key Largo, but hers was the only one identified by U.S. forensic authorities with assistance from family members. The U.S. Coast Guard reported that the boat had not been found. She, her husband and brother lived in Havana and the other members of their groups were from Artemisa and Cabañas.

Ella y otras nueve personas huyeron de Cuba en un 14 pies. lancha 25 de abril de 2002 procedente del puerto de Cabañas, provincia de Pinar del Río. Buscando asilo en los Estados Unidos.Cuatro días después (29 de abril), su cuerpo fue encontrado flotando cerca de Cayo Largo, Florida. Su hermano y su esposo también formaban parte del grupo. Se encontraron otros dos cuerpos muy descompuestos a diez millas de Cayo Largo, pero el suyo fue el único identificado por las autoridades forenses de Estados Unidos con la ayuda de familiares. La Guardia Costera de los Estados Unidos informó que no se había encontrado el barco. Ella, su esposo y su hermano vivían en La Habana y los demás integrantes de sus grupos eran de Artemisa y Cabañas.
