Case description:

Disappeared in an exit attempt. Geovanny left his home in Ciego de Ávila to St. Lucia with a tourist visa, although his plan was to reach the U.S.A.  According to his family in Spain, that spoke with him on a daily basis, he had found a group in St. Lucia that would attempt an illegal entry by sea into the U.S. via Puerto Rico or U.S. Virgin Islands (3 Dominicans, 12 Haitians and 11 Cubans, including a 7 year old girl). The group left in the middle of the night on August 20, 2006 and was not heard of again. Family members of some fellow traveler also reported them missing and have conducted numerous inquiries and requested investigations from several governments, to no avail.
The Cubans reportedly traveling with Geovanny were: Osmani Sotolongo, Laily Perez Negrin, Luis Vásquez, Neri Danys Vásquez, Daisy Vásquez, Henry Montesinos Hernández, Alexander Anaya Ramos, another man and two women whose names the family ignores.

Geovanny salió de Ciego de Ávila rumbo a Santa Lucía con una visa de turista, aunque su plan era llegar a los EE.UU. Según su familia en España, que hablaba con él a diario, había encontrado un grupo allí dispuesto a intentar una entrada ilegal por mar (3 dominicanos, 12 haitianos y 11 cubanos, incluyendo una niña de 7 años). Tenían la intención de entrar en EE.UU. a través de Puerto Rico o Islas Vírgenes de EE.UU. Miembros de la familia de otros de los compañeros de viaje también los han reportado desaparecidos y han llevado a cabo numerosas investigaciones y solicitado investigaciones de varios gobiernos, en vano.
Según los informes, los cubanos que viajaron con Geovanny fueron: Osmani Sotolongo, Laila Pérez Negrín, Luis Vásquez, Neri Danys Vásquez, Daisy Vásquez, Henry Montesinos Hernández, Alexander Anaya Ramos, otro hombre y dos mujeres cuyos nombres la familia ignora.
